A note from ARCO/Murray
We continue to invest in the tools and expertise that help our teams give clients better information earlier in the process.
Our clients increasingly bring us projects that don’t fit neatly within standard solutions. Unique geometries, demanding load conditions and complex requirements all significantly impact cost, schedule and constructability if not addressed early. That’s why ARCO/Murray has continued to invest in the capabilities to solve these challenges upfront. Our integrated engineering, design, preconstruction, procurement and construction teams work together from the earliest stages of a project to evaluate options, identify constraints and help clients make informed decisions before changes become difficult or costly.
One of the tools supporting that work is our proprietary structural design platform our teams have developed and refined in-house. We recently completed a significant round of improvements that expand both what the platform can evaluate and the level of information it can provide. The updated tool supports a broader range of design conditions and increased functionality, including nonstandard geometries, lateral system design, tilt wall design, and high seismic functionality. It can also complete core structural calculations in a fraction of the time required through a conventional design process, helping our teams get meaningful technical information in front of clients earlier.
This earlier insight allows us to evaluate how structural decisions may affect cost, layout and constructability while there is still flexibility to make changes. It also gives our teams a faster way to compare options and work through complex conditions before they begin to affect the broader project. The latest improvements also expanded the platform’s design outputs. Our team can now generate more detailed preliminary information, including 3D views and outputs that can be translated into Revit for permit-level drawings.
These improvements are the result of several years of development by our internal team and reflect the way we approach technical investment more broadly: continually applying new technologies and methods to better support our clients’ needs. In the latest round of development, our engineers used AI-assisted tools to support coding and testing, including generating test scenarios that helped identify edge cases and stress-test the platform across a wider range of conditions. That same approach continues to guide how we improve the tools, expertise and resources behind our projects so we can solve complex problems earlier and give clients better information throughout the process.
