ARCO/Murray Completes New Self-Storage Facility in Plantation, Florida

ARCO/Murray partnered with Compson Development to deliver a state-of-the-art 124,860 square-foot self-storage facility in Plantation, Florida. Operated by Extra Space Storage, the newly constructed three-story facility features 938 climate-controlled storage units and includes 1,000 square feet of office space.
The light-gauge framed facility showcases a modern, high-end design that complements the neighborhood’s aesthetic. Strategically located less than 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale Airport and just a few miles from Florida’s East Coast, the facility serves both local residents and travelers passing through the Sunshine State.
To accommodate the region’s tropical climate and proximity to large bodies of water, an underground stormwater management system was installed to mitigate the risk of flooding and unforeseen water-related conditions. The building’s exterior was finished with an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS), enhancing energy efficiency, durability, and versatility.
The facility includes 21 drive-up storage units positioned along the perimeter, enclosed within a high-security entrance and exit gate near the main office. Two elevators are available for customers to use, ensuring customer accessibility and efficiency when moving.
This project marks the latest completion in an ongoing series of successful collaborations between ARCO/Murray and Compson Development. Carlos Rivas Rocha led the project as project manager, while site superintendent Mark Galindo oversaw the day-to-day construction operations to ensure seamless execution and a better construction experience from start to finish.
