Robust Internship Program

Our robust internship program with over 60 annual interns offers students the unique opportunity to take ownership of a wide range of critical tasks throughout the construction process and across a variety of project types.

Hands-On Learning

Interns will gain in-depth knowledge of the industry through hands-on learning, both in the office and in the field, plus access to standardized training programs, and cross-functional capstone projects.

Learn from the Best

We invest in our interns, providing each with a dedicated mentor and heavy access to leadership, so each student gains the experience needed to begin building a successful career.

GAIN REAL EXPERIENCE WITH MEANINGFUL RESPONSIBILITIES

As an industry-leading design-build firm, we offer Interns an unmatched opportunity to make meaningful contributions to projects in an array of growing industries, including Entertainment, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Adaptive Reuse, Multifamily, Manufacturing and more.

With the support of ARCO/Murray’s industry experts and resources, Interns take on their own tasks and work alongside their full-time counterparts on all aspects of a project, from concept development to closeout and every stage in-between.

PROJECT MANAGER INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the buyout process with subcontractors for multiple trade scopes
  • Travel to jobsites to support the project from the field as needed
  • Complete take-off drawings
  • Participate and contribute to estimate review meetings
  • Compose project schedules, bid instructions and project outline specifications
  • Review subcontractor scopes of work and bid analysis
  • Review design drawing and project submittals
  • Participate in owner/client and design meetings
  • Participate in a summer long capstone project to be presented at end of term

“Working with my Project Manager felt like a “divide and conquer” approach, as opposed to busy work. He managed sitework, while I managed electrical. We met weekly to talk about what was completed. It felt like it was just as much my project as his.”
– Ben Setterdahl, ’22 Intern

“Interns are well respected at ARCO/Murray and everyone takes the time out of their day to address you and get to know you on a personal level. You’ll be respected and feel like an important part of the company – not just someone here for the summer.”
– Summer Hawkins, ’21 & ’22 Intern

“I love buildings and this internship is as intimate as it gets. I purchased every item for a project and oversaw the whole process. Interns get the independence and responsibility of an actual Project Manager – an opportunity to gain real experience.”
– Wanqi Yuan, ’22 Intern

WORK HARD, HAVE FUN

We take the time to nurture a positive, upbeat culture and celebrate our successes as a team. ARCO/Murray interns are encouraged to participate in all associate engagement events, in addition to the specific Internship Program events that are scheduled throughout the summer, which include offsite activities, happy hours, lunches and more.

OFFICES WHERE YOU WANT TO BE

We have offices in major markets nationwide, meaning Interns can potentially work close to home, school or opt for an up-and-coming market. Project Manager Interns will occasionally travel with their mentor to gain field experience, but will never be asked to relocate to a jobsite.

UNMATCHED POST-GRAD OPPORTUNITIES

ARCO is always looking for the best and brightest to join our team, with many interns becoming full-time associates. Our superior compensation, generous bonus program, and best-in-class benefits are what continue to make ARCO a top choice for recent college graduates.

OUTSTANDING INTERN BENEFITS

Our interns receive competitive pay, phone reimbursement and sponsored housing, plus they have the potential to receive an end-of-summer bonus and/or prize money for the winning capstone group. Interns who later join ARCO full-time receive a sign-on bonus for each summer as an intern.

WE RECRUIT FROM THE TOP SCHOOLS COAST TO COAST

ARCO is committed to identifying and implementing ways to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the construction industry. Beyond standard corporate policies and practices, ARCO extends our commitment to creating an inclusive culture to our recruiting, training, and subcontractor selection. We know that the best work requires the best people and that the diversity of all those involved in the construction process enhances our ability to deliver the very best solutions to our customers.
